About the office:

Purpose: The Civil Office is committed to fostering collaboration and participation among Syrian communities to build a just and inclusive society. By rejecting all forms of hatred, division, and discrimination, the Office promotes social cohesion, civic engagement, and cultural preservation. It emphasizes equality, diversity, and the shared responsibility of all Syrians—men, women, youth, and children—in shaping the future of Syria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote Civil Engagement and Unity
    Lead initiatives that reject discrimination, racism, and division, fostering a sense of national unity, mutual respect, and coexistence across religious, sectarian, and ethnic lines.
  • Support Women’s Participation
    Advocate for the active involvement of women in political and public decision-making processes, ensuring equal opportunities and rights for women and men. Promote programs that empower women to play a transformative role in building Syria’s future.
  • Empower Youth and Children
    Develop educational, training, and development programs for youth and children, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to political, civic, and cultural life. Prioritize creating opportunities that build their skills and enhance their engagement in shaping an equitable and just society.
  • Aid War-Affected Individuals
    Provide support for individuals affected by the war, including survivors of detention and those who have experienced trauma. Launch initiatives to improve their living conditions, ensure psychological and social support, and foster their reintegration into society with dignity and independence. Additionally, the office focuses on providing a safe and stable environment for children to grow and thrive.
  • Strengthen Civil Society
    Enhance the role of civil society through initiatives that promote awareness of rights and responsibilities, democratic values, and active citizenship. Support independent civil society organizations, strengthen community collaboration, and implement projects that reinforce justice, equality, and social cohesion.
